The Carriage Inn Bed and Breakfast is right in the middle of the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, just a few minutes from Harper’s Ferry, Shepherdstown, and Northern Virginia wine country. This small town gem is less than a 2 hour drive from the Baltimore and Washington D.C. metropolitan areas, which provides an extremely large pool of potential guests.
When staying there, guests are surrounded by some of the most historically significant locations in American history: Harper’s Ferry, Antietam battlefield, and, of course, the Inn itself. Originally built in 1836, the Carriage Inn was visited by many Civil War generals, notably Generals Grant and Sheridan, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. It is also a Jefferson County Historical Landmark, which has been continuously operating under the same name as a B&B for over 40 years.
This Inn also has a unique business advantage: it’s the only property currently licensed as a B&B within the Charles Town city limits, and were grandfathered in as such…and there are no other B&B’s allowed to start operation at this time within the city limits.
Each of the spacious seven rooms has a uniquely American story to tell. Guests are encouraged to step back in time while enjoying modern amenities, including spacious sitting areas with gas fireplaces, en suite bathrooms, air conditioning, and high-speed internet.
